Sura 24:35. “I AM” is the Light of the heavens and the Earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the Glass as it were a Brilliant Star*: Lighted from a blessed Tree, an “Olive” (symbol of Israel), neither of the East nor of the West, whose “Oil” (of enlightenment) is well-nigh “Luminous” (the Bible Scriptures), though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! “I AM” doth guide whom He will to His Light: “I AM” doth set forth Parables (like this one) for men: and “I AM” doth know all things.* (Sura 86; Revelation 30:16).;
